Swingarm Tool Information

The off-set on Honda special tool

For the left swingarm pivot bolt lock ring is 47mm.  For those of you that would like to make a copy of the tool,
Ed Lee, STOC 5066, made a measured schematic for us (downloadable copy attached below):

I guess if you feel confident that you can maintain (don't affect/increase) the 156 inch pounds of pre-load on the two
swingarm bearings while torquing the lock ring to something a bit greater than 76 foot pounds without using the special tool,
go ahead.  But the special tools are available to borrow within the ST1100 community.
